Designed to disable tracked and wheeled enemy vehicles. The enemy vehicles are damaged by destroying their chassis when the mine charge is detonated at the moment the wheel (roller) hits the mine detonator. The TM-62P2 mine, like all other mines of this series, can be used as a conventional explosive charge. To use it as a charge, a DU-62 detonator is screwed into the detonator socket instead of it, which is essentially similar to a plug-plug, in the center of which an EDP-r electric detonator is inserted. It is especially convenient to use a DU-62 mine when blowing up ice, since the mine is hermetic, it can be conveniently suspended in a hole under the ice.
The TM-62P2 mine, like all other mines of the TM-62 family, is very simple in design. In essence, it is a container filled with explosives, into which a plastic cup with an internal thread is inserted and there is an intermediate detonator. The thread dimensions are the same for all TM-62 series mines, which allows the use of any MV-62 series detonator in any TM-62 series. To fill the mine body with explosives, its bottom is screwed to the body. To seal and prevent further unscrewing of the bottom, the threaded connection is glued.
When a tank track (car wheel) hits the detonator cover, it breaks through the weakened section and the cover presses on the striker.
There are no non-extraction elements, but surprise mines MS-3, MS-4, ML-7, ML-8 can be used as the latter with the mine.
The mine is not equipped with a self-destruct device.
