It consists of a housing with a cover, a percussion mechanism with a retarder (metal element) and a MD-5M or MD-2 fuse. The housing has an internal thread at one end for screwing in the fuse, and at the other end - an external thread for screwing in the cover and an internal thread for fastening the percussion mechanism. There are two grooves on the outside of the housing. When using an explosive with an MPM mine, a rubber ring is installed in the upper groove, and a spring-loaded mine retainer enters the lower one. The percussion mechanism consists of a striker with a cutter fixed to the end of the striker rod, a mainspring, a sleeve, a check, a metal element and a cap. The check, passing through the holes in the sleeve and the striker rod, holds the striker in the cocked position. The cap holds the metal element in the slot of the sleeve. There is a hole in the bottom of the cap through which you can check the presence of a metal element. Each explosive is equipped with four metal elements (No. 1, 3, 5 and 6) of different thicknesses with different deceleration times (Appendix 4) and a different color of one of the ends. Metal element No. 6 is installed in the explosive at the factory. The remaining three metal elements are placed in a paper bag inside the body of each explosive on the side of the thread for the fuse. a — general view: b — section; 1 - Cover; 2 - Cap; 3 - Metal element; 4 - Cutter; 5 - Check; 6 - Bushing; 7 - Firing pin; 8 - Rubber ring; 9 - Mainspring; 10 - Body; 11 - MD-5M fuse;
After the check is pulled out, the cutter, under the action of the mainspring, cuts the metal element. After cutting the metal element, the striker is released and pierces the primer-fuse of the fuse with its sting, causing it to explode.
To prepare the explosive, you must: - Unscrew the cover from the case. - Check the presence of a metal element, and if necessary, replace it with another one in accordance with the specified deceleration time (when replacing the metal element, the check is rotated 90°, the cap is removed, the metal element is replaced, after which the cap is installed back, and the check is returned to its original position). - Screw the cover back onto the case. If the explosive will be used with an MPM anti-personnel mine, put a rubber ring on the case in the upper groove.
