This is the newest mine of the Russian Federation, both an anti-personnel and anti-vehicle guided mine, and to a large extent it is also an anti-tank mine, because the damage from the cumulative blast jet is applied to the roof of the vehicle and the armor penetration is 30 mm, i.e. it pierces all types of BMPs, APCs. The mine is used against group targets.
The M-225 anti-personnel cumulative-fragmentation mine with a GZE of jumping and controlled action, the body is made of steel. The mine is equipped with a combined target sensor, which includes a seismic sensor with target selection for vehicles and people (with simultaneous invasion of the detection zone of people and vehicles, selection errors can reach 15-18%), a magnetic sensor with target selection by metal weight, a thermal sensor with target selection by the amount of heat released.
If the mine is in combat duty mode, then when targets enter the detection zone (radius - 150-200 meters), the sensors inform the control panel about the nature of the target (person, vehicle), the number of targets, the speed and direction of movement, as well as the distance to the zone of impact. The control panel processes these signals and gives the operator recommendations on the feasibility of detonating mines: which mines on combat duty should be detonated, as well as how many and which mines in passive mode should be transferred to combat duty mode. If targets are simultaneously in the zones of impact of several mines, recommendations are given on which mine is best to detonate. When the command is issued from the control panel to explode, the pyro cartridge is first triggered, which throws off the mine cover and the masking layer of soil. Then the rocket engine of the cluster warhead is launched, which flies to a height of 45-60 meters. After reaching this height, the cassette scatters striking elements in a radius of 85-95 meters. People are hit by fragments of the striking element (defeat radius 17 meters). Vehicles are hit by a cumulative jet, because the front part of the warhead has a cumulative funnel.
When attempting to remove a mine, if the integrity of the control wire line or radio line interference is violated, the control panel informs the operator that it is impossible to control the mine. Depending on the previous settings, the mine may go into safe mode or self-destruct.
The control panel issues a command for self-destruction immediately or after the end of the set combat period. Lack of communication with the control panel within a predetermined period of time leads to self-destruction of the mine.
The mine is installed manually using mechanized means underground to a depth of up to 0.6 meters from the mine cover. Mines are controlled by an operator from a wired control panel PU-404P or a radio control panel PU-404R. One control panel can control up to 100 mines. The control distance of the radio control panel is up to 10 km, and the wired control panel is up to 4 km. For the installation of mines on the ground, the plant has developed a mine setter, which is a ZIL-131 or KamAZ-4310 vehicle. It is possible to convert any other truck or tracked transport vehicle into a mine setter. The installer is equipped with drilling equipment that allows drilling wells for mines in soils of categories I-IV, crane equipment for installing mines and equipment for testing mines, as well as a lead control panel and radio control panel. The ZIL-131 installer carries up to 12 mines.
It is possible to equip the mine with pit-type anti-tank mines that suppress the operation of metal detectors (mine detectors), radio frequency mine detectors, and odorant mine detectors. It is possible to produce a simplified variant of the mine without target sensors. In this case, the operator observes the battlefield and visually determines the presence of targets in the zone of impact, after which he issues a command to detonate the mine.
