ZMG
On December 26, 2015, at around 3 a.m., the largest arsenal in Ukraine, No. 65, near Balaklia, was attacked from the air by Russian UAVs with 14 ZMG incendiary grenades.
The ZMG mine-grenade is designed to create a fire center in warehouses storing equipment, property, fuel, lubricants, and lumber.
The ZMG body is made of flammable magnesium alloy, has an ignition device with a spike mechanism and a pyrotechnic retarder.
When the mine hits the ground, it creates a fireworks effect, the fire spreads in different directions and burns for up to 15 minutes at a temperature of up to 2300°C.
The mine is placed manually, either used as a time-delay grenade, or dropped from a UAV.
It is forbidden to remove a detonator that has not worked at the specified time. Such mines are destroyed on site. Demining of ZMG with MUV series detonators is prohibited.
