An attempt to mine the Suez Canal zone from Israeli vessels with these mines was unsuccessful. The use of these mines against US patrol boats on the Mekong River in Vietnam was more successful. However, the large amount of preparatory work, the large weight of the mine complicated their installation, and the large amount of debris, algae, branches, and trees floating downstream often caused the mines to falsely activate.
Designed to disable enemy watercraft (floating transporters, cars, boats, barges, boats, amphibians, ferries, etc.) when they overcome water obstacles (rivers, lakes, reservoirs, etc.). It is used on lakes, rivers, small reservoirs with a current of up to 1.5 m/s.
It is triggered when one of the three contact switches – target sensors – is impacted with a force of 12-16 kg. When the mine explodes, a hole is formed in the enemy vehicle’s hull, and the water hammer disables the vehicle’s engine and transmission.
The mine is equipped with an EHV-7 self-destructor/self-neutralizer with a self-destruction or self-neutralization period of 2 to 120 days. However, two or three EHV-7s can be connected in a cascade, which increases the self-destruction/self-neutralization period of the mine to 360 days.
The mine is placed on the bottom of the reservoir at a depth of 1-10 meters manually from the shore, from a watercraft, from a helicopter. The floating part is located below the water surface by 0.3-1.1 m, and the anchor part is located on the bottom of the reservoir.
Demining is prohibited.
