By programming, you can set the mine's combat time either for 30 days or for a period from 3 to 96 hours (with a discreteness of 1 hour), and also set the mine to self-neutralize or self-destruct after the end of the combat period. If the target sensor (a thin, broken wire) is manually influenced by the operator, the mine can be used as a controlled one, although this mode of use of the mine is not standard. The main difference of the new mine is the cover, which performs significantly more functions compared to the prototype. Inside the cover are two PS 50 type power batteries and an ITS 120 type electronic fuse.
The mine was adopted in 1999. As of 2016, it is the main standard anti-tank anti-ship mine.
On the back surface of the cover is a coil of a breakaway two-wire cable (target sensor). Controls, as well as displays and indicators for monitoring the state of the mine, are located on the back surface of the cover. In addition, on the back wall of the cover there is a socket for an electric detonator and an electrical connector for connecting the electric detonator to the electronic fuse circuit. On the end wall of the mine cover are located: 1. Coil with a breakaway cable, closed by a lid. 2. Socket for an electric detonator. 3. Connector for connecting the electric detonator wires. 4. Electric detonator hood. In the "safe" position, the hood is closed. The electric detonator is stored separately from the mine. It is placed in a pencil case stored in a group container. In the "combat" position, the hood is also closed and under it is an electric detonator, inserted into its socket and connected to the connector. This hood is an element of the mine's non-removability, since an attempt to open it causes a mine explosion. The hood can be safely opened only when the mine is in a safe position or after the mine has self-neutralized. The mine control panel is painted black. It contains: 5. Four-position mine control knob. Position A — the fuse is turned off and the mine is in a safe position, Position N — the mine is set to self-neutralize after the end of the combat period, Position D — the mine is set to self-destruct after the end of the combat period, Position P — the mine is in self-test and programming mode. 6. Button for setting hours of combat operation. 7. Button for setting tens of hours of combat operation. 8. Button for fixing the values set by buttons 6 and 7. 9. Status indicator for sensors No. 1 and No. 2. 10. Alphanumeric display. 11. SHUNT indicator. The display starts flashing and flashes for 4 min. 40 sec., and then goes out. 20 seconds after that, the mine is in a combat position. Any attempt from this moment to open the hood or move the mine leads to its explosion.
During combat operations, the mine cannot be removed or neutralized! The mine can be neutralized only under the following conditions: 1. It has served its combat service life. 2. The control handle is in position N The procedure for mine neutralization operations: 1. Approach the mine from behind and make sure that the control handle (5) is in position N, the SHUNT indicator (11) is lit with a steady light. In this case, if the letters FA are lit on the display (10), and the status indicators of sensors No. 1 and No. 2 (9) are lit, this means that the self-neutralization process is ongoing, but not yet completed. The extinction of the status indicators of sensors No. 1 and No. 2 (9) indicates that the self-neutralization process is complete and the following mine neutralization operations can be performed. 2. Turn the control knob (5) to position A. The display (10) will show a flashing letter A, which will go out after 5–10 seconds. The mine is in a safe position. 3. Open the hood (4), disconnect the electric detonator connector from the connector (3) in the mine cover, unscrew the electric detonator from the socket (2) and place it in the case. 4. Disconnect the breakaway cable coil (1) and dispose of it. 5. Disconnect the cover from the housing and remove it from the battery cover. Install the cover back onto the mine body. This completes the mine neutralization process. If the control knob (5) is in position D, this means that the mine self-destructs by explosion after the end of its combat operation period and its neutralization is impossible. In this case, it is impossible to determine the combat operation period and the time of self-destruction. Such a mine can be destroyed on site by provoking an explosion. To do this, a cat with a 30-meter rope is thrown onto the rupture cable and pulled. The rupture of the cable will provoke an explosion of the mine.
