The mine is intended for mining roads and railways, as well as for destroying various military and industrial facilities.
The MZU mine has a steel body, built-in non-extraction and non-disarmament elements, as well as three operating modes: OBJECT, AUTO, TRAIN.
The mine operates autonomously after setting, detonates when tilted or when the case is removed, and has magnetic and vibration sensors for detonation under a car or train. The mine has 3 modes that are assigned to it: OBJECT, AUTO, TRAIN. - In AUTO mode, a magnetic sensor operates, which creates a detonation under a car passing over the mine. - In TRAIN mode, a vibration sensor operates, which creates a mine explosion from the vibration of a train passing over the mine. - In OBJECT mode, a slow-motion mechanism operates, set in advance for detonation for a period of 1 to 60 days. The mine is connected to the control panel by a 10-meter cable. The panel is intended only for setting the mine for detonation, after which the mine operates autonomously.
The mine has a built-in ENI non-extraction element of an inclined type, which detonates the mine when it is tilted by 18°-30°, and an ENO non-disarmament element, which detonates the mine when an attempt is made to remove the upper case.
MZU-S differs from MZU in the presence of a self-detonator that can be set to detonate within a period of 1 to 60 days.
When mining railways, as a rule, the MZU mine is installed on high embankments or in recesses and on curved sections of the track, under the outer rail. The mine can also be installed under the rail, between the rails, under the sleeper, between the sleepers, next to the track (up to 1.5 meters from the nearest rail), at a depth of 0.5-1.5 meters. The explosion of the mine forms a crater with a diameter of 3.5-5.5 meters, but in the hole where the mine is installed, additional explosive charges are placed, for reliable damage to the railway train. When mining highways, the mine is installed under the road at a depth of 0.2-1.0 meters. The explosion of the mine forms a crater with a diameter of 3.5-5.5 meters, but in the hole where the mine is installed, additional explosive charges are placed, for reliable damage to vehicles. When mining road and industrial facilities, the mine operates in the OBJECT position. It is installed in a previously prepared chamber, niche or well, usually with an additional explosive charge.
Mine clearance is prohibited; if the cable is cut, it is impossible to clear the mine.
Color: Green, various shades. Marking: standard, applied with black paint on the side surface and contains the mine code, the manufacturer's factory code, the batch number and the year of manufacture. − MZU or MZU-S – mine code; − 60-12-79 – manufacturer's factory code – batch number – year of manufacture (the numbers may be different); − T – equipment code.
