There is a slot on the bottom for installing additional fuses, closed with a screw plug. This allows it to be set to non-removable or converted into a booby-trap using DM77, DM47A1, DM36 fuses. A DM39 tilting pin fuse can also be screwed into this slot (the mine is then turned upside down, and the standard fuse is not installed in it). With this fuse, the mine becomes an anti-bottom high-explosive mine. The mine can be installed on the surface or in the ground manually or using a minelayer (which one is not specified in the guidance documents) or scattered from a slowly moving truck.
It was adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1981 and is in service as of 2011, although it is considered somewhat outdated.
Anti-tank, anti-tracker, high-explosive pressure mine. Designed to disable enemy tracked and wheeled vehicles.
Structurally, it consists of a cylindrical aluminum alloy housing (1), covered on top with a layer of plastic pile (for camouflage purposes). A bottom (2) is welded to it from below. The main charge (3) of molten TNT is poured inside. A cup (4) for an additional fuse is mounted in the bottom from below. This cup has a threaded socket for the fuse, a tube for the detonator capsule of the fuse and an intermediate tetryl detonator (7.7 grams). A support part (5) is screwed to the housing with four bolts (6). A cup (7) for the main fuse (8) is mounted in this support part. Also, a centering ring (9) is screwed to the housing with twelve bolts, to which a rubber elastic ring (10) is glued. An inclined ring plate (11) is connected to this rubber elastic ring, which in the mine plays the role of a target sensor. Its central part rests on the guide part (12). A cover (13) is screwed into the inclined plate from above, which has a complex design, which turns it into the main element of the protection system. When a wheel or caterpillar hits the inclined annular plate, due to the fact that the pressure is distributed unevenly, the plate, overcoming the resistance of the elastic ring, moves along the guide part and with the cover (13) exerts lateral pressure on the hemispherical pressure head of the fuse, which leads to its activation. The DM 1001 mine fuse is a mechanical pressure-action fuse with a remote cocking mechanism. Made of aluminum alloy. The pressure head is plastic. In the fuse installed in the mine, from the moment the mine cover latch is moved from the "S" (safe) position to the "F" (combat) position, a clockwork mechanism starts to work in the fuse, which transfers the fuse to the combat position after about 5 minutes. The fuse is returned to the safety position using a key (mounted externally in the lower end of the case) after being removed from the mine. The fuse has no other safety devices.
1. Unscrew the mine cover by turning it counterclockwise and set it aside. The red cover latch should be against the line with the white letter "S". If this is not the case, then use the steps described below in paragraph 10 to move the latch to the "S" position. 2. Unscrew the lower part of the fuse case and set it aside. 3. Holding the fuse by the upper part of the case (it does not separate from the fuse), turn it upside down and make sure that the rod on the side wall of the fuse does not protrude outwards, and the red lines on the end of the lower part of the fuse do not form a solid line. If this is not the case, then using the key in the end of the lower part of the case, insert it into the recess on the end of the fuse and turn clockwise. In this case, the rod on the side wall of the fuse must go inside the housing. If this does not happen or rotation is impossible, then such a fuse is unusable and must be destroyed. 4. Holding the fuse by the upper part of the case, turn it over to the normal position and insert it into the cup in the mine housing. In this case, the sickle-shaped cutout in the upper part of the case must coincide with the white mark in the mine housing. 5. Press the upper part of the case until it clicks. The fuse is fixed in the mine housing. 6. Remove the upper part of the case from the fuse, screw it to the lower part and put it in the box. 7. Screw on the cover, turning it clockwise until it stops. The mine is equipped and is in the safety position. Now the mine can be placed in the hole. 8. Press the button of the bracket covering the cover and turn the latch until it coincides with the red letter "F". At this point, the sound of the fuse's clockwork mechanism should be clearly audible. After five minutes (approximately), the fuse will be in a combat position. The mine is in a combat position.
Enemy vehicles are damaged by destroying their chassis when the mine charge explodes at the moment the wheel (roller) hits the mine's pressure plate (DM1001 fuse).
Mine disposal. 1. Carefully unscrew the mine cover without applying pressure to it. If this cannot be done, then such a mine is considered undisposable and must be destroyed on site. 2. Unscrew the case and place the mine cover on the bottom of the case. Press firmly on the mine cover and press the cover arch and move the latch from position "F" to position "S". Put the mine cover aside. 3. Put the upper part of the case on the fuse until a click is heard. In this case, the crescent-shaped cutout in the upper part of the case must coincide with the white mark in the mine body. NOTE: It is impossible to remove the fuse from the mine without using the upper part of the case! After unscrewing the cover from the mine, the fuser is blocked and if the cover is screwed back on, the mine will no longer be able to work normally. In all cases, the fuse must be removed from the mine and assembled. And this cannot be done without a case! The mine in this condition cannot be used, and it is dangerous to transport it. 4. Turn the upper part of the case together with the fuse fixed in it clockwise by 90 degrees and remove it from the glass. 5. Using the key in the end of the lower part of the case, insert it into the recess on the end of the fuse and turn clockwise. In this case, the rod on the side wall of the fuse must go inside the case, and the red lines must diverge. The fuse is in the safety position. If this cannot be done, the fuse is considered faulty and must be destroyed. 6. Screw together both parts of the pencil case with the detonator inside. Place the pencil case in the box. 7. Screw the lid onto the mine and place the mine in the box.
