The MC-71 mine is designed to destroy armored targets, mainly tanks and other combat vehicles, by hitting their bottom with a shaped charge.
The MC-71 mine is made in a metal case of conical shape. Inside is a shaped charge of explosive TG-40 weighing 5.1 kg. The mine is equipped with a mechanical pin fuse, which is fixed on a remote support outside the mine case. The design also allows one fuse to be connected to several mines for their simultaneous initiation.
It is installed so that the explosion occurs under the middle of the bottom of the car, ensuring maximum anti-bottom damage effect.
