The detonator is designed to equip anti-tank mines of the TM-62 series and TM-72 mines and ensures their detonation under the entire projection of moving targets.
It has a long-range cocking mechanism with a cocking time of 20-400 seconds.
With this detonator, the mine can be laid either manually or using a helicopter and self-propelled minelayer.
Search and removal of mines installed with the MVN-80 detonator is allowed only using the PUV-80 control device. Persons searching for mines and transferring them to the transport position must not have any ferromagnetic objects with them: weapons, shovels, helmets, knives, feelers, etc., and their shoes must not have steel shoes or nails. The MVN-80 detonator has a very high sensitivity to changes in the magnetic field, it can cause a mine explosion when a person carrying metal objects (helmet, weapon, shoes with nail soles, etc.) approaches it or even as a result of the mine itself moving along the terrain closer than 200m from high-voltage power lines, operating radars and powerful radio stations. Any electromagnetic influences (magnetic field, radio radiation from the mine detector) cause the detonator to be triggered. It is prohibited to: 1. Bring ferromagnetic objects to a mine that has been moved into a combat position and remove them from it; 2. Search for mines that have been moved into a combat position with probes (even non-steel ones); 3. Manually defuse mines installed with a fuse mask (there may be ferromagnetic objects in the masking layer).
