The detonating device is designed to control the operation of five anti-personnel fragmentation mines (performing the role of a sensor and target identifier and issuing a command to detonate the next mine). NVU-P allows you to install guided and unguided groups of anti-personnel mines from five OZM-72 or MON-50 mines (standard) and ensures sequential detonation of mines in the group. Each time a person is in the detection zone, only one mine out of five explodes.
The NVU-P device consists of an executive and distribution device (electron contact block), a SV-20P seismic target sensor, five NM electro-acoustic devices, five coils with a micro-electro cable, a MUV-4 detonator and five fragmentation anti-personnel mines. In addition, for every 20 sets, one testing and adjustment unit or a combined device Ts4313 is issued and for every 12 sets, one MZU control panel is provided. Separately, one TNT bomb weighing 75, 200 or 400 grams is provided with each NVU-P set.
The device is connected to the executive and distribution device by means of an electric cable of 5 anti-personnel fragmentation mines, which are installed in accordance with the selected mining scheme. A two-core copper insulated micro-cable is stretched from the device to each mine. The standard mines of the set are OZM-72 or MON-50 mines, but it is possible to connect any anti-personnel fragmentation mines that have sockets for connecting MD-5M fuses (MON-100, MON-200, POMZ-2M, OZM-3, OZM-4, POB) or mines that can be initiated by an electric pulse (OZM-160, OZM with UVK, OZM-3). A seismic sensor connected to the device by a cable is buried in the ground near the executive and distribution device. The device is constantly in standby mode at the place of work. When moving targets (equipment, people) appear in the detection zone, the seismic sensor transmits the registered ground vibrations to the device. The device processes the information received and recognizes the nature of the target and its removal. If the target is identified as a person, the device is switched to combat mode. The distance to the target and the azimuth to it are specified. As soon as the target is in the zone of effective impact of one or more mines, the mine closest to the target is determined, after which an electric pulse is sent to the electronic device connected to the mine and one mine explodes. The device identifies human movement (walking, running, crawling slowly or quickly, moving on skis) and distinguishes it against the background of the movement of equipment and animals in any soil and weather conditions. The probability of error is 0.0004. If the soil conditions where the NVU-P is used differ significantly from the reference ones, then the device is first trained and adjusted using the testing and adjustment unit for specific terrain conditions. These settings, recorded by the testing and adjustment unit, can be used to adjust all other devices that will be installed in this area. For mines of the OZM-72 type, the target detection range is about 120-150 meters, and the range at which the command to explode is given is about 15 meters. Thus, during the explosion of any mine, a person finds himself in the zone of effective damage.
Non-extraction and self-liquidation of mines is carried out by installing ML-7 trap mines and 200 g TNT bombs under each PMN mine. NVU-P with VUZ-8 is installed next to the group of mines, its impingement mechanisms are connected to each TNT bomb. The impingement mechanisms are screwed onto MD-5M fuses, which are inserted into the sockets of the TNT bombs. The mine detonator MVE-NS is installed together with VUZ-8. The impingement mechanism MVE-NS is screwed onto the VUZ-8 fuse capsule. This ensures self-liquidation of the mine group in the event of a voltage drop in the MVE-NS power cells when an attempt is made to unscrew the impingement mechanism MVE-NS. The standard triggering device of NVU-P is the MUV-4 detonator without a fuse, but it is possible to use MUV-2 and MUV-3 detonators. The deceleration time is determined by the deceleration time of the applied detonator. In addition, it is possible to bring the NVU-P into combat position in an unguided version remotely using a detonator or other current source. In this case, instead of the MUV-4 detonator, an NM electronic fuse connected by a wire line to the detonator is used. However, issuing a command to transfer the NVU-P to a safe position in this case is impossible.
The device does not have an internal self-destruction device, but if its self-destruction is supposed, then a TNT bomb is attached to the device body using insulating tape (the attachment point is marked with a white rectangle). An MD-5M fuse is inserted into the bomb, to which an electronic ignition device is screwed. The bomb explodes when a command for self-destruction is issued after all five mines have been triggered or the power supply voltage drops to the minimum permissible value. The design features of the NVU-P and its installation allow us to consider the mine group as non-retractable and non-disarmable.
When installing the NVU-P in the controlled version, the device is repeatedly transferred to a combat or safe position from the MZU control panel via a two-wire cable. The length of the control line is determined by the resistance of the cable used and the power of the current source connected to the MZU control panel, and can be up to several hundred meters. The NVU-P device can also be installed together with the VUZ-8 detonating device, which allows the use of connecting eight mines at once Explanation to Figure 1: Installation diagram of a group of OZM-72 anti-personnel mines with ensuring their non-extraction and self-destruction on the trail using MVE-72, MVE-NS and VUZ-8. Self-destruction of mines is achieved by installing TNT bombs under OZM-72 mines, connecting VUZ-8 to the self-destruction device of the NVU-P electronic unit and impaling mechanisms for up to 200 g of TNT bombs placed on each OZM-72 mine and on the NVU-P electronic unit. Mines are installed along the trail, the NVU-P electronic unit next to the trail, and the seismic target sensor directly under the trail. Explanation to Figure 2: Scheme of installation of a group of OZM-72 anti-personnel mines with ensuring their non-extraction and self-destruction on the trail using MVE-72, MVE-NS and VUZ-8. Self-destruction of mines is achieved by installing TNT bombs and (or) surprise mines ML-7 under OZM-72 mines, connecting VUZ-8 to the self-destruction device of the electronic unit NVU-P and impaling mechanisms for up to 200 g of TNT bombs (or ML-7), placed on each OZM-72 mine and on the electronic unit NVU-P. Mines are installed along the trail, the electronic unit NVU-P next to the trail, and the seismic target sensor directly under the trail. Explanation to Figure 3: Installation of anti-personnel mines was carried out using PMN mines. To create a mine bag and increase the area of damage, a breakaway target sensor MVE-72 is started under every three PMN mines located in a group of mines on the trail. When a mine is triggered, the rupture sensor is interrupted, activating a mine or group of OZM-72 mines and, thereby, ensuring a depth of impact of up to 80 meters.
There is no way to get close and neutralize it. It is practically impossible to deceive seismic sensors. It is practically impossible to detect it with any devices or instruments at the moment, because there are currently no devices that can detect mines from a distance of 150 meters. In addition, this thing is very insidious. When a soldier is blown up, a medic or a cook rushes to him. But a second mine explodes, disabling the rescuers. An attempt by the wounded to crawl out of the affected area leads to the detonation of a third mine. And the OZM-72 mine explodes at a height of about 1 meter, striking both pedestrians and crawlers.
