It is triggered when the target sensor is hit with a force of 40-50 kg, according to the principle of the PDM-1M mine (the rod is deflected in any direction by 10°-15°). When the mine explodes, a hole is formed in the enemy vehicle's hull, and the water hammer disables the vehicle's engine and transmission.
The mine is installed on the bottom of the reservoir at a depth of 1.5-3.8 meters manually from the shore or from a watercraft. The installation of these mines can only be done in advance, in the absence of an enemy on the other shore, because a significant amount of work, a fairly large number of personnel participating in the work unmasks the work. Also, a lot of grass, garbage, logs, branches, and other objects always float downstream, which often leads to false alarms. But a more coarse-grained detonator compared to the detonator of the PDM-1 PDM-1M mine (50 kg versus 20/26) increases the stability of the mine.
