The SPM medium-sized sticky mine belongs to the class of object-based timer mines and is intended for damage or destruction of mobile and stationary objects with metal parts. The mine is intended for use in sabotage purposes, for the destruction of fuel tanks, damage to railway structures and rolling stock, aircraft and helicopters, boats and other objects. Basically, the mine hits unarmored or lightly armored objects (tanks, pipelines, electrical fittings, hydraulic fittings, locking devices, armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, aircraft, helicopters, power transmission poles). The mine can also be used underwater to blow up underwater objects and disable ships of small displacement. The SPM mine is mainly used in combat swimmer units of the Navy, marine units.
The mine is fixed to the object to be detonated by two arc-shaped magnets fixed to the flat lower surface of the mine. The mine explodes after the specified detonator deceleration period.
The color is dark brown, gray, layered. The marking is standard, applied with black paint to the bottom and contains: − SPM– mine code; − 60-3-73 – manufacturer’s code– batch number– year of manufacture (the numbers may be different); − MS– equipment code; − OTK 6 – OTK stamp.
