Designed to disable enemy tracked and wheeled vehicles. The enemy vehicles are damaged by damaging their chassis when the mine charge explodes when the wheel (roller) hits the mine fuse.
The carrying handle is made of a non-removable green synthetic mine tape or cotton ribbon, threaded through the holes in the body. A very large difference in the mass of the explosives is visible in the equipment. Such significant differences in the masses of the explosives are explained by the fact that the mine body can be filled with explosives not in full, but based on the presence of explosives. A smaller number indicates the minimum permissible amount, and a larger one indicates the upper limit of filling.
It does not have any non-extraction elements, but surprise mines MS-3, MS-4, ML-7, ML-8 can be used in this capacity with the mine.
The mine is not equipped with a self-liquidator.
The mine can be installed both on the ground and in the ground, in the snow, manually or by means of mechanization (trailer minelayers PMZ-4P). Not intended for installation under water or in marshy soil. Not intended for use in tracked minelayers of the GMZ-3 type. Not intended for use in long-standing minefields.
A mine equipped with MV-62, MVP-62, MVP-62M, MVK-62 fuses is not detected by mine detectors due to the almost complete absence of metal parts in them. These fuses are recommended for the TM-62D mine, although the mine can be used with all MV-62 family fuses. It is well detected by probes and search dogs.
Color: Dark green. Standard, applied with black paint on one of the side walls of the mine and contains: − TM-62D– mine code; − 3P-32-68 – manufacturer’s code– batch number– year of manufacture (digits may be different); − T – equipment code, based on table 1.10.1. Mines manufactured in military workshops or civilian woodworking workshops in wartime may not have markings and colors
