Designed to disable enemy tracked and wheeled vehicles.
The mine is available in two versions – TM-46 and TMN-46 with MVM and MVSh-46 detonators. TMN-46 differs from TM-46 in the presence of a second eye at the bottom of the mine for installing a non-neutralization detonator, the MUV series with an MD-6N fuse.
The enemy vehicle is destroyed by the destruction of its chassis when the mine charge explodes at the moment the wheel (roller) hits the mine's pressure cap.
The mine can be used as a booby trap. For this purpose, a special ENO detonator is used, which has the appearance of a standard plug-plug. The explosion in this case occurs when an attempt is made to unscrew the plug. Also, the TMN-46 has a fuse in the bottom part for the MUV series detonator
The mine can be installed both on the ground and in the ground, in the snow, under water manually or by mechanized means (trailer minelayers PMZ-4P, tracked minelayer GMZ-3, helicopter minelaying system VSM-1).
Externally, TM-46 can be distinguished from TMN-46 only by the presence of a non-disarmament detonator at the bottom of the mine, which can be detected only when it is possible to dig under the mine. However, only sappers know the insidiousness of the MUV series detonators, they know with what incomprehensible ease the check pops out of them. Therefore, it is better to blow up these mines.
Mine color As a rule, a barrage mine is painted in dark green or olive green. Individual parata can be painted in olive yellow or yellow-gray. Mine marking It is applied in black letters with paint on the side or on the mine cover and contains: TM-46 or TMN-46 - mine code (may be absent); 34-33-57 - manufacturer's factory code (parata number, year of manufacture; this is just an example, the numbers may be different); A-50 - equipment code (in this case, the main charge is ammonite (50/50). On some mines, an additional marking is applied on the covers around the circumference "POD MVSH-46 I MVM".
