MS-3

Structurally, in terms of explosive and technical characteristics, and in terms of appearance, the MS-3 does not differ in any way from the PMN anti-personnel mine, with the exception of the protrusion in the center of the upper plane of the mine and the principle of operation.

Designed for use as a non-extraction device for anti-tank, anti-personnel and other mines that do not have their own similar device. In addition, the mine can be used as a booby-trap mine.

Once the check is pulled out of the MS-3, it cannot be returned to the safe position. After the deceleration time has elapsed, the MS-3 will automatically be brought into combat readiness.

It explodes when the load is removed from it (a mine in a combat position must be constantly loaded).

The mine can be installed both on the ground and in the ground, in the snow, manually. When used as a non-removal device, the MC-3 mine is installed so that when an attempt is made to remove an anti-tank (or other) mine from its installation site, the MC-3 mine explodes, which in turn leads to the detonation of the main mine. When installing an anti-tank mine together with the MS-3, a recess is made in the hole for the MS-3 in such a way that the main mine, when lowered into the hole, would press on the protrusion of the MS-3 and would lie with its lower plane tightly on the upper plane of the MS 3. When used as a booby-trap, the MS-3 is installed on the ground so that it is not visible (for example, in an open hole), and an object is placed on it that will certainly arouse the enemy's interest and encourage him to pick it up (weapon, box, crate, etc.) or use it (vehicle, telephone, portable ladder, etc.). In this case, the personnel are damaged by the force of the explosion of the mine itself. After all the actions of bringing the main mine into combat position are performed, the combat check is removed from the MS-3 and the mine is masked. Once the check is pulled out of the MS-3, it cannot be returned to a safe position. After the deceleration time has elapsed, the MS-3 will automatically be brought into combat readiness. If there is no load on it by this time, the MS-3 will explode.

The mine is not subject to demining.

The color is brown with a black cover. The marking is standard, applied to the rubber cover or to the side in white or yellow letters and contains: − MS-3 – mine code; − 15-51-73 – manufacturer code– batch number– year of manufacture (the numbers may be different); − T – equipment code.
