OZM-3
This mine, created on the basis of the German mine of World War II "Sprengmine", operates on the same principle.
Designed to incapacitate enemy personnel.
The mine consists of a cast-iron body with a BP charge, a powder charge, a moderator and a fuse placed in it. The mine is equipped with a MUV series detonator with a P-shaped check, two wooden pegs and a 5 m long piece of wire on a wooden spool.
When the wire tension is pulled, the detonator's firing pin is pulled out. The detonator pierces the primer-igniter. The expelling charge and the retarder are ignited. Under the action of the powder gases of the expelling charge, the pallet breaks out, and the mine is thrown upwards. It jumps to a height of 0.4–1.4 meters, after which it explodes, striking even people lying on the ground with fragments.
It does not have non-extraction and non-disarmament elements, however, the very high sensitivity of the MUV detonator makes mine neutralization extremely dangerous. Can be set to non-extraction using the MC-3 surprise mine or homemade surprise mines.
The mine is installed manually in the ground, and if it is impossible to install it in the ground - on the ground, while the mine is tied to a peg driven into the ground. In the case of frozen ground and the presence of snow cover of 15 cm or more, the mine is installed on the surface of the ground, sprinkled with compacted snow on the sides and masked with snow.
Disposal of OZM-3 mines installed with a MUV-2 or MUV-3 detonator is prohibited. They are destroyed at the installation site by trawling with cats, which are thrown onto wire extensions from cover.
Color: Green. Marking: Standard, applied with black paint on the side wall and contains: - OZM-3 – mine code; - D-U-66 – manufacturer’s code – batch number – year of manufacture (the numbers may be different); - T – equipment code (the BP code may be absent in the marking).
