The PMP mine is an anti-personnel ball of pressure action. Instead of a detonator, the mine has a trigger mechanism, and the mainspring is cocked under the influence of the pressure of a person's foot at the moment of stepping on the mine cover.
A bullet that flies out of the mine barrel at the moment of penetration into the foot carries with it contaminated fragments of the shoe sole into the wound channel. In addition, powder gases from the cartridge penetrate the wound channel, increasing the destructive power of the mine. A person wounded by this mine cannot move independently and requires urgent hospitalization. There is no loud explosion from the mine. Therefore, soldiers often do not understand that this is not an injury from enemy fire, but a mine lesion and that they are in a minefield.
There are no elements of non-extraction and non-disposal.
The mine is not equipped with a self-destruct device.
The mine can only be placed in the ground or snow manually.
Transfer to a safe state is impossible.
