Designed to damage or destroy mobile and stationary objects with metal parts. The mine mainly affects unarmored or lightly armored objects. It is used to damage military and industrial equipment, combat and transport vehicles, rolling stock, fuel tanks and other mechanisms. It can also be used against small-displacement ships and other underwater objects.

The destruction of the object is caused by the force of the explosion of the explosive charge. The mine explodes after the specified deceleration period of the VZD-1M time-delay detonator has expired.

The mine has a non-removable EN detonator, which detonates the mine when an attempt is made to remove it from the blasting object.

The mine is secured to the object to be blown up using magnets. To increase the reliability of the detonation, two such detonators are simultaneously inserted into special sockets located in the inlet of the dome-shaped body.
