The MS-6Sh mine is designed to destroy enemy manpower when clearing minefields using a probe.
The mine consists of a control unit, 190 mm in diameter, 125 mm in height, with a 1.2 kg explosive charge of TNT; a launch cable; and an anti-probe sensor, 230/45 mm in diameter/height, made of patent leather between two contact meshes, which is connected to the control unit by a cable.
When the probe is pressed against the mesh, the lacquered fabric is pushed through, shorting the mine's electrical circuit and initiating an explosion.
The mine is installed in the ground (snow) with a camouflage layer of up to 10 cm. The anti-probe sensor is installed above the control unit.
MS-6Sh mines are not subject to demining. These mines can only be searched with an induction mine detector. The locations of the MS-6Sh mines are shown on the minefield plan, which is kept by the sapper group commander.
