The TM-57 mine is very successful and powerful, its fuses are simple and reliable. In some cases (sabotage and guerrilla actions) it has an advantage over the more modern TM-62 mine, as it has a lower weight, a larger target sensor area and, accordingly, a higher probability of hitting the target. It has an additional socket for installing a MUV series fuse for the impossibility of extraction.
Designed to disable tracked and wheeled enemy vehicles. Damage to enemy vehicles is caused at the expense of the enemy. Damage to enemy vehicles is caused by the destruction of their chassis when the mine charge explodes at the moment the wheel hits the chassis. An additional socket allows you to screw an electric detonator into the mine and use the TM-57 both as a conventional explosive charge and as a guided mine.
At the moment the mine passes along the barrier conveyor, a special mechanism presses a button on the detonator body, a clockwork mechanism starts working, which puts the detonator into combat mode after 2-3 minutes. The mine explodes when a track or wheel hits the detonator or pressure cap. The MVSh-57 detonator is similar to the MVSh-46 detonator.
To install a mine to prevent extraction, there is an additional socket on the side of the body for screwing in a MUV detonator with an MD-5M fuse.
There is no self-liquidator
