This is the newest Russian anti-personnel mine-grenade, a circular fragmentation grenade of heavy action, which was adopted by the Russian Federation in 2007. It is also used as a hand grenade. It is made on the basis of the POM-2 mine.
The mine body is fitted with a set of ring plates of the same internal and different external diameters, from which striking elements are formed during the mine explosion. The damage to a person or several is caused by the impact of fragments of the ring plates during the explosion of the mine charge at the moment when the person touches one of the four target sensors (thin nylon threads 10 meters long).
When the target sensor thread is affected and the thread exerts a force of 300 grams or more on the fuse mechanism, the safety-executing mechanism is triggered, which ensures the mine explosion. If the mine has not taken the correct position (due to falling into deep snow, a swamp, or the target sensors could not take the correct position - they did not deploy fully or not all, or not to the full distance), then the mine still operates in normal combat mode.
The mine has a self-destruction device that ensures self-destruction of the mine by detonation after 3-100 hours and self-neutralization - up to 120 days from the moment of installation in the "mine" mode (the self-destruction time depends on the ambient air temperature).
The mine can only be installed on the ground and only manually. The possibility of installing mines by mechanization is not provided. The mine is installed on a spring-loaded leg in an oriented (close to vertical) position on the ground, the target sensor anchors are spread out to the sides for a distance of up to 10 meters, unwinding the target sensor threads.
The mine is not subject to demining.
The color is green, protective. The marking is standard, applied with black paint on the mine body and contains: − POB– mine code; − 582-RF-1-11 – manufacturer’s code– country of manufacture– batch number– year of manufacture (the numbers may be different).
